Resources
Some links to resources to get you started...One of the reasons that this website exists is because useful and timely health information and insights were difficult to find. Here are some we recommend:
The Boost Your Resilience Workbook
The Recover from Injury ebook
This is coming soon – register your interest.
Health Direct Australia
This is a health information and advice service offering information online and over the phone (1800 022 222), available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is funded by the Governments of Australia. Their Accidents and injuries page provides some good, general information.
Better Health Victoria
One of the better state government websites, their Sports injuries site has some useful tips on first aid, treatment, where to get help and how to prevent injuries (if only we’d all heeded this advice eh!)
Sports Medicine Association of Australia
I really like their resources and fact sheets.
Bonesmart
A Knee Replacement & Hip Replacement Patient Advocacy & Online Community, run by the US-based Foundation of Advanced Research Medicine, Inc. (FARM). “The goal of the website is to provide support and ease the apprehension of joint replacement surgery by providing an environment that specifically addresses the concerns of the joint replacement patient.”
Beyond Blue: guide to caring for someone with depression or anxiety
This section of their website is a great start when considering the emotional issues injured people might have.
